Helen F. Kellogg Library
The only English language lending library in Santo Domingo,which has been lending books since 1979. The library is organized with the Dewey Decimal System and all 6.000 volumes are in the card catalog by autor and title. It is all run old school with hand-stamped cards in the pocket inside the book. It is staffed by volunteers and supported by memberships, sale of used books and book donations.
They have several thousand volumes to lend to members and an on-going sale of books.
Hours: The library is open to the public Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 9 -11:30 AM.

Sociedad Dominicana de Bibliófilos, Inc.
This is "the coolest bookworm spot in town". They have a great collection of hard to find history and informative literature. There are many history books about Dominican Republic in both English and Spanish. They also publish their own books, hold lectures and much more. There is a nice little patio inside where you can sit and relax while looking at the books. The man working there, Pedro, knows his books and loves to help you find just what you are looking for. You can join for a small yearly fee and get discounts on their books and lots more.

This library has many old documents, newspapers and magazines. Good place to look up some Dominican Republic history. The mission of the National Library of Dominican Republic is to compile, preserve and spread the diverse bibliographical materials, in all forms, that comprise of the national collective memory, in order to give access of the information and knowledge in its collections, for both the national and international communities.
