Colonial Zone Santo Domingo Dominican Republic Ice Cream, Sweets, Pastries and Coffee Shops
Helados Bon, C por A
This ice cream is the best (in our opinion). Made with the fruits of the island the flavors have just the right sweetness and creaminess. On a hot day it is sooo refreshing.

The ice cream made in Dominican Republic can't be beat! You can get such fresh tropical fruit flavors that somehow have a complete different flavor that what you might be accustomed to enjoying. Get this luscious confection on a cone or in a cup with a little plastic spoon. Tastes so good, so refreshing after baking in the hot Caribbean sun.
*Make sure you try the Habijuelas con Dulce Ice cream sold only around Easter time. It is wonderful.

The sweet candies are called Dulces. Many have the texture of fudge and can be flavored with fruits such as pineapple/ piña, mango, coconut/coco and guava among the many. There is a very tasty peanut type brittle here. These candies can be purchased almost anyplace including the Colmados and Supermarkets. The candy stores are the best places to buy the dulces. This way you know they are made fresh.
Andrea Panaderia, Cafeteria & Heladeria
This bakery has some yummy pastries and unique breads. They make a decent croissant and offer whole grain breads. You can also get a coffee or drink which goes perfect with the pastries. They also make fresh sandwiches and sell pizza by the slice.

La Cafeteria
A great coffee shop that has been around a long time. They have their own special blend of coffee that they grind fresh (this can be purchased to take with you to brew at home). You can get some fresh blended juices made with or without milk. They also have some good pastries and sandwiches you can enjoy with that perfect cup of coffee. Catch up on the local news and happenings with the locals. Great conversation to go along with your coffee and a friendly staff. A regular cup of espresso is about 20 pesos.
