Cool Hostal Tierraplana
A small charming Hostal located in the center of the old city across from a very interesting landmark, The Ruinas of San Francisco. They have 7 rooms one of which has a balcony overlooking the Ruins and all have private bathrooms. Breakfast in included and they permit well-behaved dogs. Prices are very reasonable

Casas del XVI is a luxurious new concept in boutique hotels, located in the heart of Santo Domingo’s Colonial City, The 5 star hotel in located in a group of 16 century colonial houses complexly renovated yet leaving the old world charm intact giving each part of the hotel its own unique, eclectic character. The service of the hotel is amazing. They greet their guests at the airport, accompany them through immigration. When you arrive at the hotel your mayordomo, or butler, welcomes you and will attend to your every need. Each house has a different look and common area. One house has a full sized swimming pool. There is a compete entertainment system in each room and very attentive service. The hotel has 17 rooms in five houses. The average prices for a room is over US$300 nightly.

El Beatrio Guest House
Located in the center of the Colonial Zone in an old 16th century restored convent and was used as the foundation of a "Beaterio" by the widow Doña Maria de Arana little before she left for Spain in 1556. The building is classified as "World Heritage" by UNESCO.
It is a small, intimate and charming hotel with a restful and calm atmosphere with beautiful colonial rooms. Within its stone walls the furniture in the lobby is inviting along with the sound of classical music. There is a beautiful terrace where you can sit and absorb the sun or just relax. They serve breakfast and have a bar.
