The contest for Miss República Dominicana was held on Tuesday 17 April at the Hotel Jaragua in the capital city Santo Domingo. The contest had 37 beautiful Dominican women vying for the title.
Carlina Duran Baldera, representing La Vega won the Miss Universe Dominican Republic 2012 beauty pageant BUT she was dethroned a few days later. It was discovered that she was married and it is against the rules to be married. The 25 year old 5 feet 11 inches tall (1.82 M) woman from the town of Concepcion de la Vega beauty was crowned. She is a professional model. Carlina held her title for only 5 days.
Now the first runner up, Dulcita Leggi Francisco from the National District (Districto Nacional) is the new Miss República Dominicana. Dulcita is 22 years old, 5 feet 11 inch tall (1.80 m). She is an actress and model. Dulcita is an advertising and communications graduate from UNIBE. Her father is from Italy and her mother is from Puerto Plata.
Carolyn Hawa Rodriguez from Santiago will represent Dominican Republic in the Miss Continente Americano pageant in Ecuador.
Alondra Pena Pacheco from Peravia province will go to Bolivia to compete in Reina Hispanoamericana.
Luz Quezada Baez, from San Jose de Ocoa will participate in the Miss Intercontinental Contest.
I am waiting to see who will represent the country at Miss America Latina.
