A huge flea market opens early on Sunday. Don't arrive to late or you will miss the good deals. People sell just about everything. One can get some very good prices on clothing, shoes, electronics and almost anything you might need. It is something to experience. Many food vendors also so this way you can shop , eat, and enjoy the Dominican flavor. That always makes for a good day.

Mercado Modelo is a large mall that sells almost any souvenir or tourist item you could imagine. It is set up in sections each owned by different vendors. Many of the shops are represented many times each selling different wares but owned by the same person. There are many non-tourist things to buy here including a great market selling fresh fruit and veggies near by and an herb shop. The only bad thing about this place is that it is a tourist area and you are hounded constantly by all types of people from beggars to people selling their wares.
