Plaza Bartolomé de las Casas
Church and Convent of Regina Angelorum was the first building made exclusively for the Dominican nuns. The original structure was replaced with the building that is there now was completed in 1722. click for more info
Casa del Tostado The original house of Francisco Tostado dated 1520 to 1530. This house, now the home of the Museum of the Dominican Family

Fuerte de San José was part of a series of bastions built to defend the city of Santo Domingo. The equipped artillery platform, with it's two look out points and cannons was part of the walls that surrounded the city. click for more info
Puerta de la Misericordia/Gate of Mercy once a  part of the  original city walls
Cemetery on Avenue Independencia inaugurated in 1824. Many of the founders, the people that created Santo Domingo, are buried here. Click for more information and picture

Fuerte de la Concepcion located along the west wall of the walled city.
The Fortress of Santo Domingo also known as Fortelaza Ozama. Its strategic location gives it a perfect view or anyone gaining entry to the city. It overlooks both the Ozama River and the Caribbean Sea from high on its steep bank. It was such a formidable stronghold that it was never seized by force. The Statue of Oviendo is cast in bronze in 1977 to honor Gonzalo Fernández de Oviedo who was the governor of the fortress. click for more info
