Bars and Restaurants In and Around Colonial Zone

Some of Our Favorite Places Outside of Colonial Zone

Here is the list and information for Restaurants and Bars in the Colonial Zone and the surrounding area. As you can see there are many places from which to chose.

Restaurants / Restaurantes
From elegant dining to informal cafeteria style eating we have it all. Since we have many different cultures and people here in Colonial Zone there are restaurants that are sure to please everyone. How about some great French or Italian food? Maybe some Mediterranean or Thai foods? We also have a great vegetarian place and a few steak houses that are sure to please. Make sure you hit a typical Dominican restaurant while you are trying the International cuisine. There is sure to be something in our little town to please even the most discriminating palate.
REMEMBER THINGS DO CHANGE. WHAT'S HERE TODAY MAY BE GONE TOMORROW. I have tried to keep up on all the bars and restaurants here in the Colonial Zone and the surrounding areas. It is not an easy task. One place opens and another closes. If you know a place I should add please let me know.

*NOTICE* As of the end of July 2006 the new decree 308-06 was passed by the Executive Branch of the government as part of the  new measures against crime. This act limits the selling of alcohol dramatically. No establishment is permitted to sell alcohol after 12 midnight Sunday thru Thursday and 2AM Friday and Saturday. This is the countries way to combat the crime wave taking the country by storm. Many restaurants and Colmados are not happy with this move as their business and income has dropped. Restaurant owners are saying they will have to let many employees go. Others are saying that it is good because there is less noise in the streets and less problems.
The rule has been extended in many areas to add more hours that alcohol can be served. Many resorts and casinos are exempt from this rule.

So be aware, if you want to party do it early. If you are on the street after these times there is a good chance the police will stop you to see if you are friend or foe. Just be warned

*NOTE- this rule can be changed, lifted, revoked, all depending on the day or holiday all by Presidential decree. One can never be sure exactly what to expect. Just go along with the flowwww....

Vida Nocturnal / Night Life
The Night Life within the walled town of Zona Colonial, nestled within the capital city of Santo Domingo, is as diverse as it's people. You can usually find a club of venue that will give you the party your searching for. Looking for the bright lights and strobe effects while dancing to some pulsating disc jockey made music or someplace where you can dance where there is not a light to be seen? How about some nice calm piano bar where you can sip a brandy and have a good cigar or watch a live show or concert while holding a bottle of beer? Sitting outside under the stars listening to the low hum of peoples voices talking amongst themselves or a place where you would not be able to talk if you tried because of the high decibel of sound blaring from elaborate sound systems? Listen to some traditional Latin or Spanish music or how about some good old Rock and Roll or Reggae?  Better yet go bar hopping, which can easily be done here in Colonial Zone since it is a small town and all is within walking distance. Buy your liquid of choice by the bottle or glass or buy a bottle of good Dominican rum and share with friends.

Now, the only thing you need to do is get out there. Walk or call a taxi (really you don't need a taxi here in Colonial Zone as all places are an easy walk away). Almost every street, every block, in the Zone has some place where you can enjoy. Get ready for some friendly conversation, good music, cold refreshments, great food and a good time!

Don't limit yourself to one experience. Try as many places as you can. The Colonial Zone may be a small town but it is big in entertainment, culture, dining and enjoying.
